You had a great interview, but you aren’t finished yet! A commonly missed final step in the interviewing process is sending a thank-you note to your interviewer(s), preferably on the same day, or the day after your interview.
Why Should I Send a Thank-You?
1) It is a thoughtful courtesy which will help to remind the interviewer of the fabulousness of you and your sincere interest in the job.
2) It is an excellent follow-up that allows you to briefly summarize, one last time, why you are a good fit for the job.
3) It allows you to express your appreciation for the opportunity to interview.
Typed or Handwritten?
Email is more efficient and will ensure your thank-you is received quickly; however, a neatly written thank-you note often stands out as so much of today’s communication is electronic. A thank-you on high-quality, conservatively designed and colored paper will be something an interviewer can put on a desk and be reminded of you: an email often gets deleted after reading.
